Farewell 2023: it's been memorable, and unbelievably tasty! Let's take a few minutes to review the last 12 months and give a few words of thanks to our supremely talented pie makers and our loyal customers. Go on, make a cuppa, grab an apple pie, and settle down.
2023 was ANOTHER award-winning year for us! We came away with two Golds, three Silvers and one Bronze, along with two Highly Commended! Our limited-edition Chicken, Haggis & Peppercorn pie (one of the best pies we’ve ever tasted), along with our decadent Smoked Haddock pie, not only received Gold awards, but were also Highly Commended by the judges.
We’re so proud of our Pie Makers for creating such memorable pies. We wonder what 2024 will bring?
Our recent fun Facebook poll for everyone's favourite pies resulted in an overwhelming win for fan favourite Venison and Cranberry. Our limited edition Chicken, Haggis and Peppercorn was a worthy runner-up.
Back in the summer, newly weds Kate and James Kennedy shared their love of Lochinver Larder pies with family and friends, serving 40 freshly baked beauties at their reception!
Why Lochinver Larder pies? Because Kate and James got engaged on top of Suilven, a place close to their (and our) hearts, and because they absolutely love our pies! In their words, 'Your pies are the best in the world, so we had to share them with our nearest and dearest.'
The pies went down a treat and it was one of their favourite memories of a very special day.
We were absolutely delighted, and thanked them on Facebook for sharing such a cherished memory with us.
Huge thanks to Lianne Mackay Photography for sending us this stunning snap.
Let's go way back to March and our utterly unique and delicious Durban Curry pie. This beauty proved extremely popular with pie fans looking for something a little bit different. For afters, our tartly sweet Rhubarb & Ginger pie delighted sweet pie fans.
For the King's Coronation we celebrated with our beloved award-winning Smoked Haddock pie. A regal choice for a majestic month.
Father's Day in June brought Chicken, Haggis and Peppercorn - a tasty combination of deep, rich flavours for dads everywhere.
Our summer pies flew out of the ovens! Roasted Veg & Feta and Venison Bolognese were super popular and for good reason - light, fresh, Mediterranean veg contrasted with our deeply rich and herby venison bolognese. Something for everyone!
Halloween brought two petri-PIE-ing pies! Chicken & Stornoway Black Pudding pie and sinfully sweet and spooky Toffee Apple Pie for dessert. The addition of world-famous Stornoway black pudding to our Chicken Pie proved irresistable for customers, and because Toffee Apple was one of our most-requested pies, this sweet treat was back on the menu for spooky season.
We kicked off the festive season with THREE delectable pies - one of your all-time faves, the Christmas Turkey Pie, a Veggie Christmas Pie and yep, the Smoked Haddock pie made a welcome return because we know you LOVE it! Call it an early Christmas gift to our beloved loyal customers.
"As we head into 2024 I would like to thank each and everyone who supported us during the season and the years past.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in the new year. I would also like to thank my team who has been there with me every step of the season making it another great season and a great experience. Debbie, Lewis, Jackie, Robbie, Stephanie, Abbie, Eilidh, Sophie, Anna, Alison and all the seasonal staff I look forward to making and baking plenty more pies with you all.
Thank you again and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy new year."
Corné Van Jaarsveld, General Manager
